The internet can be a tool for finding like minded people. We've found great ski partners on forums like FirstTracks, SkiAdk, and SnowJournal. Many of us have connected through the forums. All the authors of Harvey Road connected through NYSkiBlog, other ski blogs and the ski forums. * * *

NYSkiBlog on Twitter
On January 3 2010, I posted this mobile blog report at 8:10 am - Gore Mountain was on windhold. That was great, but I doubt many people saw it in time to use the information. If I'd Tweeted that report, people could have seen it driving up 87, and saved some trouble.
We think Twitter can be a valuable tool for ski conditions reporting directly from the mountains. Twitter is really well suited to getting out real time updates from the hill ... alerting skiers to snowfall amounts, precipitation type, conditions on the trails and in the trees.
If you are skiing and want to share conditions with us, include @NYSkiBlog in your tweet and we'll retweet it as soon as possible. And if you follow us on Twitter you'll see reports as soon as they're available.
