The Mountains Less Traveled

The internet has made it easier to find interesting ski destinations that only a few years ago were known only to local hardcores, but the opposite is also true. In the age of limitless choice, you have to spend a bit more time digging through the electronic universe to find places that haven’t already been discovered by Joe and Jane High-Speed Sixpack. That’s what NYSkiBlog Magazine is all about — providing the lowdown on unique ski areas within driving distance and for long-haul destination trips further afield.

Close to home here in the northeastern U.S., you’ll find reports about under-the-radar ski areas like Burke in Vermont, Elk and Montage in Pennsylvania, as well as detailed accounts of two beloved lost ski areas in the Catskills, Bobcat and Bearpen. Heading north across the border in Québec, we’ve scouted out a bracing mix of top-shelf east-coast terrain accompanied by French-Canadian culture and cuisine in the Belle Province’s major regions, from the Eastern Townships and the Laurentians in the south to Charlevoix and the Chic-Chocs in the north.

Out West New York Ski Magazine covers off-the-beaten-path mountains from New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Washington along with Alberta and British Columbia in western Canada. Finally, for those interested in learning more about skiing mecca in the Alps, we offer a taste of France and Austria’s biggest and most well-known interconnected resorts and intimate local’s areas.

Even when we’re covering well-known spots like Jackson Hole or Tremblant, we’ll do our best to show you a side of the ski experience that may have evaded you on your last visit.

Winter or summer, dive into the Magazine’s extensive catalog of articles, complete with large-format photos and well-written narratives, and let us know what you think with a comment at the bottom.
