    Gore Mountain Conditions

Liftblog shows the new Topridge line speed of 450 ft per minute, same as the line speed listed for North, High Peaks, and Sunway. They did not have a line speed for the old Topridge listed. That said, I suspect that the reported line speed is the maximum, not necessarily the typical operating...

The old Sunway chair with the mid unload at the top of Jamboree was replaced before the 2020-21 season.

It feels like a shorter run, and it may be slightly steeper. But it is definitely way easier than the portion of Sunway between 3B and Pete's Paradise. Since I live 1,000 miles away and only get to ski a couple of days a year at each, I decided to do a bit of research. Open Ski Map says the...

    Killington Conditions

Conditions today were pretty good! I think the clouds kept the snow from getting too slow. And all the trails with snow making seemed to still have decent coverage with only an occasional bare spot.

Is there any chance Hoyt's High will still be open in mid-March? I know it is up to mother nature, but I guess my question is about the depth of the base. I've never had luck with this trail on my previous mid-March visits. But snowmaking seems to be different this year. What do you guys think?

    Whiteface Conditions

I am not an every day skier. But in my experience, outside of holidays and busy weekends when Gore handles crowds better than Whiteface, Whiteface feels less crowded. The last time I was at Whiteface on a weekday, I felt like there was only ~100 people on the whole mountain.

It is shown in the 2022 UMP Amendment figure 2A which can be downloaded here. Looks like it will go just above the top of Mixing Bowl.

I believe @snoloco is correct. I'm no lawyer, so the following may be incorrect. But the NY Constitution article XIV § 1 says: But this portion of the constitution is referring to "The lands of the state, now owned or hereafter acquired, constituting the forest preserve as now fixed by law...

I haven't been since The Notch lift opened this year, so I can't speak to the current skier mix. But I would guess that the difference in skier mix is pretty minor. Most intermediate skiers at Gore don't go all the way down Lower Sunway because the bottom is so flat. Likewise, the skier mix at...

The Falcon lift at Whiteface has very similar difficulty trails to those off of Gore's Bear Cub Quad. Falcon Flyer is 249 ft vertical and 1674 ft long. That works out to be an average slope of 15%. Bear Cub Quad is 226 ft vertical and 1914 ft long. That's an average slope of 12%. Both lifts...

The terrain off the Falcon Flyer lift at Whiteface is exactly what you are looking for. If you made the drive up to Whiteface you'll have a great time. Note that this lift is off the Bear Den lodge, not the main lodge (so you will avoid the congestion you were concerned about). I am not sure...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

When I was with a first timer last march, he found that lower Sunway beyond Pete's Paradise is significantly easier than the stretch of Sunway from the top of the Sunway Chair to the bottom of Otter Slide. So I think you will find the terrain off the new chair to be fairly manageable, although...

    Whiteface Conditions

Today was pretty good, significantly better than Saturday. The morning started out pretty hard and fast, but it softened up when the sun came out around 11. The top half of Skyward was pretty icy, but I still had a lot of fun with it. And Victoria was in better shape than I've ever seen. My...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

I didn't make it to the upper mountain yesterday, but I had a great time touring the Ski Bowl and Burnt Ridge. Run of the day was Moxam, but everything down there was pretty good, and only that last little bit of the Hudson chair had wind. So it was probably the most comfortable part of the...
