Titus Conditions

Well, we finally made it back to Malone yesterday, and got out to ski today. Conditions are pretty great. It's a bit firm underneath, but super edge able, and the natural snow trails are great. We got a good 4-5 inches today, more up top, and it's supposed to snow for the next few days. Titus will close for Christmas, and Wednesday at 2 so keep that in mind. Wednesday am and Friday am look to be pretty sweet. We'll be here through Christmas, then head to Saratoga for Dad's 100th birthday party. Say hi if you are around, I ski with one pole. Oh, and no crowds at all.

We had a great day skiing today, there is about 6 inches of heavy sort of dense snow that is skiing great. A lot has opened up, the groomers are terrific, and the woods lines look really filled in. The mountain is closed tomorrow, but the weekend should be as good as it gets, and probably not too crowded either. If you want to ski Titus, this is a good time.

What may qualify as the longest lift line (exclusive of night skiing) that I have seen at Titus. Much talk in the air of how busy it was. But only one family speaking french...domestic ski boom?

Not exactly crowded up top as we head over to the upper mountain. Pretty nice day, for an ice storm.

Takes awhile to get there though. Lots of patented "Titus Flat-Bits" to get through. Push!

It also took a long time to leave the upper mountain. A family group blocked the bridge to take a picture. My visitors had to skate, after I had coached them all day on how to haul ass over the bridge (so you can make it to the lift beyond).

Place was open 9 am to 9 pm, so we stayed for a couple lighted runs. Snow held up great.

100! That’s kick ass. God bless him.

Is the one pole a lurk?

Yes, we are so lucky to have him around for so long. I have a neck injury that affects my right arm, so I can't use a pole. I keep my hand tucked in a pocket. I'm finally getting my balance right after 5 years or so of this. I take it easy now, I can't fall.

Back at Titus today, and the skiing is pretty good. Firmer than before, but easily edge able, and there is soft snow on the sides of some of the trails. Everything is open, and folks are here. We are bringing the touring skis out, and headed to the Fish and Game Club trails from lift 4 tomorrow to avoid the crowds. Have fun out there.
