Sno Train Discussion

Agree that the reservoir promenade is stunning

I’m definitely siding with the railroad on this one.
Totally agree, I've spent a bunch of time along the Route 28 corridor the last few summers, it's a combination of breakneck traffic from Fri-Sun afternoon and simultaneously (imo) less overall visitation than it deserves. And of course downtown Woodstock is nuts on weekends. The idea that the county would not welcome private investment to increase/better distribute visitation while reducing reliance on cars is screwy to me.

I've never taken the railroad, and though the ridership isn't huge they seem to be growing at a pretty good clip, which is impressive given that it doesn't even take you to any of the good stuff out there! Business seems very dependent on fall foliage and "polar express" tours now with lots of room for growth over the summer.

Thanks for sharing Mr Rip.
I’ve been fascinated by trains since I was a little kid in Emporium Pa. where there were tracks on the little hill behind the backyard and we got an electric for Christmas. Recently went down the rabbit hole regarding the train tracks thru Big Moose near McCauley. Emporium Lumber was based in Emporium Pa.

Went for a visit yesterday and the gates for the tracks were down, flashing red, and a car was waiting on the other side. Waited for maybe a minute then 3 point turned it outta there and detoured it home. Looked down the tracks...no train when I crossed them on the detour. Sensor mighta failed safe.

The sparks would fly from our train and later on learned the smell was ozone.
