As I posted in the closing dates thread, Royal is done. Sunday was the last day. It was kind of a sputtering and anticlimactic end to what was Royal's best snow season in a long time. There was so much snow left but weekend after weekend of lousy weather at the end didn't let us take...

With the forecast for cold and wet on Saturday, Royal will not open. Sunday 4/6 ended up being closing day.

And the changes continue, finally one for the better. Royal will be open tomorrow with all main trails planned, 10-4, $30 tickets. I should be able to get up there for a few runs early.

Hopefully there will be a closing day to write about. Royal has pulled the plug on this weekend with yet another rainy forecast. The plan is still to push stuff around to ski and have the pond skim on the 12th.

Latest word is that the snowpack is (obviously) taking bit hit after big hit but there's still snow to push around, and that the plan is to go ahead with the weekend's planned events. Can't we at least get one dry weekend day before the snow's all gone?!

I'm driving from Amsterdam to Brockport on Thursday 4/3. Since this has been planned (about a year) I've had the idea that I could take as much of the day as I wanted to make the drive, so I would find somewhere to ski along the way. I was especially confident in having some good options...

Royal is not going to open this weekend due to the rain, and plans the following to wrap up the season: 4/5: pond skim, night skiing, and fireworks 4/6 stumps and bumps competition (I believe on Red Carpet) 4/12: closing day I hope the snow holds reasonably well through the weekend weather.

Royal announced an intended closing date of 4/12 (along with a drone shot showing how much snow is still on the hill).

With the wet weather in the forecast for Saturday, Royal is pushing back the Pond Skim a week to April 5. I will be away that day so I will have to miss it for the second year in a row.

Just Saturday and Sunday. Fridays only during school breaks.

In his weekend preview FB post, Jake reports all trails will be open and no bare spots yet, and that they were planning to wait for freeze up tonight to groom things out. I'll check it out first hand in the morning. After the ski day, it's cardboard derby and fireworks.

Update Oak for a 3/22 closing day, according to an email they just sent out.

My experience was similar, just Quicksilver and Twister on my runs to the base. I had no concerns about finding paths with decent cover. When we finished up just before 3, there was a bit of a pond skim feel by the ski racks.

We had a really nice day at Gore today. It had much more of an early April feel than I'd like this early in the spring. Of course with sun and 60-degree temps the snow was heavy especially by afternoon. Everything in Straight Brook was skiing nicely, as were Hullaballo and Lower Darby...

I'm aiming for a Gore day on Wednesday. Anyone know if they're likely to have the Ski Bowl area open? I usually don't get to Gore until late season and it's always midweek, so I've never been there when it's open.
