ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Speaking of Nazis, I have a pair of ski pants from Obermeyer that I bought before I knew anything about the company. It was founded by Klaus Obermeyer who is still very much alive today. He has some story about "escaping Germany" over the Alps on skis that seems to always read slightly...

Not to get political but Google Akio Toyoda. Not too great either.

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Considering I bought mine for $41K after all the incentives, that really isn't a terrible depreciation.

Devil will be in the details and pricing, but this could definitely lift the value of used Teslas: https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/3299/tesla-launching-extended-battery-warranty-program-in-2026

    Sno Train Discussion

The only problem with a bus as enthusiasts, is that we want the freedom of a car to get first tracks on a pow day, but most people don't care about that

    Yes You Need Snow Tires

Anyone have the Conti Viking Contact 7 (or 8). CR gives them slightly better ratings. Been mulling over putting a winter setup on the Tesla, but I worry about reduced stopping on dry and wet pavement.

https://investor.uber.com/news-events/news/press-release-details/2025/Uber-Ski-Hits-the-Slopes-This-Winter-Season/default.aspx Any guesses on what an Uber from Brooklyn to NC would cost? I'm gonna go with $400

I think the entire luxury vehicle market regardless of powertrain is having a pullback.

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

I used to take it, but just to Albany where my car was waiting. I think a big part of the problem is that Amtrak is very local after that

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

For a few years I used to leave my 06 Escape at the Albany station, take the train from Penn, then drive the rest. Considering how long and stressful it was getting out of Brooklyn it was about the same amount of time if not shorter. Of course it was a coin flip if that shitbox would start...

If Gore had a Gondola from the town to the base, a snow train from Atlantic Terminal and/or Penn Station would be incredible for city folks

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Counterintuitively, I almost think the longer 6+ hour drives are less of an issue with EVs as opposed to the 4 - 6 hour drives. I mostly ski the under 3 hour away Cats these days, which is well within the 310 mile range of my Y (new ones have a bit more), but I used to do the 5 hour Brooklyn...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

If you have a 350 mile range EV, going 70 mph is 5 hours of driving. I don't believe you drive for 22 hours straight. And if you really do, a forced break for 20 - 30 minutes every 5 hours might not be a bad thing
