    Ski Industry "Debundling"

Epic season passes were down 12% this year. That's quite a bit. Some of those people likely bought one or more day passes but in any case they will get less valuable ancillary spend that way. I think people will eventually tire of the crowds and the nickel and diming and either ski elsewhere or...

    Ski Industry "Debundling"

Gore stopped offering their early season 4 pack. I really like Gore but I don't ski there enough to justify even the new skier card and I'm not paying $109 to ski there. So when I'm in the ADK this year I'll be skiing West and Oak. I think the day prices and Epic crowds will eventually cause...

    Quality Gloves for Skiing

Just ordered a pair on ebay. $12.50. The gloves I have now are OK but I had a rebate gift card from getting an oil change and thought I'd give them a try. The only thing that really gets cold on me is my hands. On cold days I use glove liners. They really seem to help. Sort of a layered approach...

    Utah Conditions

Snowbird is my favorite area in the U.S. Mineral Basin has some green trails off of the Baldy lift. The Gad II lift has some fun stuff. First time I was there was a powder day and everyone ran to Mineral Basin. Trails off the Gad II had untracked lines all day.

The Garage Thread: Tractors and UTVs

Just a recommendation; Move the man door to one side and the overhead doors side by side. When you have two vehicles in there that leaves room on one side of the garage for storage shelves, a work bench, snowblower, miscellaneous garden equipment, etc.......

    Where are the flying cars?

I worked with a German engineer who had a saying when customers would want a production line to produce two fairly different products, "When you build a flying submarine it isn't a very good plane or boat. It doesnt fly or swim very well" I think these things aren't very good cars or planes.

    Baseball

The Phillies where underdogs against the Cardinals (won series 2-0), the Braves (won series 3-1), and the Padres (won series 4-1). If they keep hitting like they have been they have a good chance.

    Market Philosophy

By pulling their money out they are guaranteeing that they lose money and will likely miss the upswing. If you're in for the long term that is a stupid thing to do. They bought high and now they are selling low. The market is on sale. I'm buying.

Phillies up 1-0 over the Padres in the NCS. Two wild card teams. Swarber hit a home run into the middle of the upper right field deck. 488 ft. First time anyone hit one there since the stadium was built in 2004.

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Just like any new product the price will eventually come down significantly. How much was a big screen TV when they first came out? How much was a smart phone when they first came out? Other than the cost of the battery, the number of components in an EV is much less than a ICE vehicle. A...

To Heat, or Not to Heat, That is the Question

And if he bought it with cash it would be under warranty. All the maintenance costs are the same lease or buy. My buddy has that deal on the Subie he bought two years ago for cash. Where you lose leasing is in the financing.

To Heat, or Not to Heat, That is the Question

Agree leasing is not an exception. Most new cars come with extended warranties and are much more reliable than in the past. My current car came with 100k mi. drivetrain warranty. The only thing I've done is put on tires and brakes and I'm over 100k miles. Again; Do the math. Even if you had to...
