Gore / North Creek Lodging and Amenities

Yes, when we were up there last week I was surprised that the pizza/sub place on 28 closed at 3:00 PM on a holiday week. Seems some place in the village of North Creek could make a go of it with casual food, subs and pizza, but apparently not.

    Bristol Conditions

It was good today until it wasn't. Beautiful blue skies, warm, softened up quickly, then by 11:00 or so got very sticky in some spots. Did a couple of runs and called it-hated to as the weather was SO nice, but it was dangerous. On the top of the Loop, I had to get back on the tails of my skis...

    Bristol Conditions

There were a bunch of people at the tables today. I think there is orange fence around the top from the snow as it gets pretty muddy there. There has been talk about them closing it, but I think it would spark a revolt among the regulars. During covid they policed it for open alcohol, but I...

    Bristol Conditions

Decided to ski today and it was a good choice. New blown snow on Rocket and Lower Meteor. College slalom on Comet/Outer Orbit. Galaxy Chair was running with Lower Galaxy open. Crowds were not bad despite the bluebird sky. Yes, it's going to be tough going for the next couple of weeks. Did one...

    Bristol Conditions

Not there today (Masters race at Hunt Hollow), but according to their Facebook page they are blowing snow to resurface many of the open trails.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

At my age, I don't need apres' ski except for maybe a beer in the lodge. If I've got the energy to go out, I haven't skied hard enough....................

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Yes, my wife wanted to go out to dinner for my birthday on Tuesday, but we ate in. Tried Wednesday, but everything was closed. We were staying on Friends Lake and it looked like the closest open places were in Warrensburg. We settled for sandwiches.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Back home, but we skied until about 1:00 today just as the rain started. Finally got over to the Ski Bowl. A little icy, but not bad. Moxham is very cool-turny and twisty. I did 46er with the 13 year old-the steep pitch was scraped, but not too bad. With softer snow (or my slalom skis) it would...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Stayed about 20 minutes away. We're from Rochester, so it's a long commute. Yes, we like the very easy changing and bag storage. Things were busy pretty much all day, but it's vacation week, so to be expected. Gondola gets you different places than the Adirondack Express, so it's worth taking...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Another bluebird day. The girls really seem to be enjoying skiing at a bigger mountain and I'm impressed with the progress the 11 year old is making. Skied Lies in the morning sun with the 13 year old but passed on Rumor. Once again lots of cars, people in the lodge, but no lift lines. Got...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

First day at Gore in about 15 years, this time with 13 and 11 year old granddaughters. Bluebird day and despite the cars in the parking lot (we got there about 8:20) the slopes were not crowded. Snow was good for most of the day although it was getting scraped in spots by mid afternoon. The...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

We stopped by around 3:20 or so to pickup up the kids passes and get our Frequent skier passes loaded. Glad we did as I'm sure it saved a bunch of time we would have spent in the morning.Looked busy by the number of cars, although tomorrow may be somewhat lighter as it's not a holiday. Haven't...

    Bristol Conditions

I'm not at Bristol, but according to their conditions report, they are opening the Galaxy chair along with Lower Galaxy and the area to exit the chair. Looks like they blew snow to resurface several of the other trails too. I can nitpick a lot of things, but i complement the Fullers for their...

    Bristol Conditions

Yes, Lower Meteor gets bad quickly, especially with three trails feeding into it. If they get Lower Galaxy open along with the cat track back to the base, it should really help things. But yeah, just too many people for the size of the hill on that day. I can't imagine what Saturday night was...

    Bristol Conditions

Good and bad today. Our combined race with Cleveland Metro was kind of a cluster, but after a fair amount of slipping we had a fun (I was dead slow) race top to bottom on Comet/Outer Orbit. Most of the NY Masters skipped the afternoon race-they were still racing at 4:20 or so. The good- there...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Heading up Monday to ski Tuesday, Wed, Thursday with the older granddaughters (13+ 11). The older one had been to Cannon and Loon, but the only place the younger one has skied is Bristol. Yes, we bought their tickets and we have the frequent skier card, so we should be good. Haven't been there...

    Bristol Conditions

I'll be there.Sort of faded green/turquoise jacket (my throwdown race coat). No idea what my bib # will be in the race, but a silver/black race suit. If you see me racing from the chair please don't throw snowballs............... :)

    Bristol Conditions

This is the first year in 20 or so years I haven't raced in the beer league on Wednesday nights and yeah, it's hectic and crazy. The kids (God bless 'em-we were there once) are a pain. I've gotten ditched and ridden up in the chair by myself quite a few times when you jump in on a group of...

    Bristol Conditions

Not bad today, but missed the 9:00 sun for the first run. Once again, they blew snow to resurface open trails and they did try on Lower Galaxy, but not enough yet. Upper Rocket was marbles and part of the top had Freestyle team moguls on it. Upper Northstar was great-smooth and fast. The...

    Bristol Conditions

Two day report for 2/13 and 2/14. Raced yesterday morning on Outer Orbit-course held up well for our small group. Went out afterwards with one of my friends and called it about noon. Snow was getting sugary and it was gray and overcast-not conditions that make you want to stay out. Today was...
