    Whiteface Conditions

I recommend putting things into context, realizing that they use the word 'anticipated conditions,' that if you're reading this blog you're probably in the top .1% of the wealthy across the globe, and that Well it's a strange old game you learn it slow One step forward and it's back to go...

This year is your best chance. I'd give it better than 50/50 by 16 March.

    Building a House with Wood

It's not that, though. It's the materializing of a dream that's been in your head for years, and one that's finally coming to fruition after many months of planning, advice seeking and work. And where you, and those closest to you, hope to spend the best years of your life.

Magic Carpets: The Most Dangerous Ski Lift on the Mountain?

No! Although I suppose it depends on the individual's motivation. I was a liftie for a short period of time. It would drive me nuts to be in a mid station unloading all day. I can't listen to myself for that long. o_O

    Whiteface Conditions

Lookout to open "tomorrow at 9:00." Patrol bringing signs up today. Skiing like mid winter. No wind, visibility is decent up top. No wait in lift lines; all lifts that mean anything are open. no racing on Draper's. Guns staged on the rest of Mountain Run and Upper Parkway. I don't think...

What is your most positive memory of skiing in NY?

Poaching Lower Parkway (WF) with a group that shall remain nameless. The powder was knee deep standing just below mid of Freeway. Absolutely no base whatsoever, to the point of feeling each of the streams that go across the trail. I fell at one point and couldn't reach the ground to be able...

Top Picks for Underrated and Overrated Comedians

I don't think one can over rate George Carlin. Of all professions, a comedian - comedian! set policy for all broadcast media as to the words you can't say over the air. Now that's influential. Those with a clean act, like Kathleen Madigan, really impress me. When I first heard Ron White's...

    Building a House with Wood

^this. With a fan and a power failure, will you get any heat? Can you encase a silver pipe in a material that matches the rest of the house (and is still a esthetically pleasing to you)?

    Snowmaking

I can't stand this sort of statement from the author, "making snow requires enormous amounts of energy, which creates planet-warming emissions." It all depends on the energy source. And even if the power is from "dirty" sources, most snowmaking is done at night when power demand is much less...

    Baseball

I'm taking a stab at Willie Stargell and 8. Do you ask the question because someone recently tied the record?

    Killington Conditions

Maybe a stupid question, but do they make snow on Superstar 24x7 whenever it's cold enough? Or do they stop at some point in the season?

    Wildlife

I was going to say that those people need a baseball bat to the head, but I'll settle for wondering why the people filming didn't try to stop those morons.

    DIN Settings

I think it may be logarithmic. But be careful when playing with the DIN. You also have to adjust the forward pressure. For some models there is a small arrow toward the ski that has to fit between the two hashes. That would indicate proper forward pressure.
