Silver status, So they have been open multiple days, hundreds of skiers or maybe more, totally skied out(as far as untracked), are they still requiring a beacon, probe and shovel with virtually no chance anything is going to slide?
And i'm kicking my self in the ass for not going out west.. I was out voted on a major trip in March..
Jason, Yeah you should be. got these from a friend in Tahoe yesterday.
Crazy winter. 2/20 I washed cars in the driveway w no jacket. 2/23 we get 8 or 9 inches by early am and its 14 degrees. By 7 pm it's 36 w a rain snow sleet mix, creating a nice heavy crust layer by 2/24 am at 8 degrees. Sat 2/25 am it's -18 with a high temp of 12. Sunday we get an unforecasted...
Last ride of 2022 was on a National Holiday, first ride of 23 was on a National Holiday weekend. Couldn't pedal too hard or make any sharp turns due to not wanting to fall. But no hill to deal with or traffic.
I get that the F&B part is a tough business in general. But as I was getting a pass discounted small hot chocolate at WF for $2.50 I saw a young kid ahead of me with a small carton of FFs and a few fish sticks with a tiny Gatorade. I tried to guess how much that could possibly cost, my guess...
I didn't get to vote but count me as "other" for Whiteface. Since i have the WF only pass I will be blacked out for 2 weekends along with Presidents week. Most areas only black out for the 3 day weekend. At the least I think passholders should be only blacked out for the weekend of presidents...
NYS Mesonet shows that the low temp at Whiteface was 35 ovrenight and yesterday was in the 50s during the day and stayed in the mid 40s until midnight.
Whiteface it was 53 when I left at 1pm. Spring skiing in mid February. Sun early then cloudy with a few sprinkles then sun again by about 11 am or so. Skyward was excellent!
Time to change the title here to
"Spring Weather". After all weathermans' spring is only 18 days away. Saw on the NYS Mesonet site at Whiteface that it hit 51 degrees after midnight and they reported .8" of precip, I'd guess mostly liquid.
Concur w all you said. We were there yesterday but didn’t start til 10:30, it was nice and toasty by then. Skyward was the run of the day, both sides had nice soft snow from about a third of the way down. Sun actually poked through from 2pm on, made for much better vis.
Mtn run looked like they...
Yeah, cold up there for a few days but if you look at their Jan 23 Stats its been ridiculously warm, only 4 days that were even below zero and it was only minus 13 at the lowest. 10 Degrees above average for the month. Crazy stuff for sure.
Marketing will always exist. No need to type out long rants about it (although they should ban advertisements for prescription drugs like they do in other countries) Couldn't agree more!
We got there a bit late(11ish) which turned out to be a good thing. Light snow just starting, hit Skyward asap, excellent snow on skiers right but totally braille til half way down. Snow starting adding up nicely around 1:30, Upper Parkway to Thruway on skiers left was really nice. Big...
